  THESE STONES

If all of these stones could talk,
Oh, the things you would hear;
Stories of great sacrifice,
Of courage, pain and fear.
  Stories told of duty;
In good times and in bad,
By military siblings,
By sweethearts, moms and dads.		  
     
  Guardsmen from this valley,
Who fought the Japanese,
Could talk about Dutch Harbor,
Up in the Bering Sea.		  
     
  Soldiers of the Army,
Who once wore green fatigues,
Might tell of one cold winter,
In Nazi Germany.		  
     
  Marines could tell of days,
They slept in dust or mud;
Of Southeast Asian jungles,
Or Iraq desert crud.		  
     
  Sailors might tell stories,
Of sailing seven seas;
In ships upon the surface,
Or silent submarines.		  
     
  Airmen just might tell you,
Of soaring through the skies;
Gazing down from up above -
As viewed by angels eyes.		  
     
  By draft or volunteer,
Through war and times of peace,
These names engraved in granite,
Served not with vain caprice.		  
     
  If all of these stones could talk,
Oh, the things you would hear,
About local heroes,
Whose names are honored here.		  
     
  But granite cannot speak,
These stones cannot cry out,
So know these names bought freedom;
Americans - devout.		  
     
    
Any person or organization wishing to purchase a granite marker ( $250.00) for any honorably discharged United States Military Veteran (regardless of state of entry) for the Walk Of Honor may do so by printing out and completing the following:
